Born at Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, daughter of Berrill Covington and Elizabeth Hodges. Conversion to Mormonism of her parents in 1840; immigration to St. Louis, Missouri, 1842; employment in the home of Joseph Smith at Nauvoo, Illinois, and marriage to his brother William; exodus west; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1847; death of her husband, 1850, and remarriage to Chauncy Walker West, 1852; remoal to Ogden, Utah.
